Poll Observer Training Fall 2026

This is an intensive 4 1/2-hour, in-person session appropriate for anyone who has a role in the election process for municipal, primary and general elections. This session will be presented by the North Carolina Election Integrity Team.

During this training, participants will learn:

  • The role and responsibilities of a Poll Observer

  • North Carolina election laws and guidelines governing poll observers

  • What Poll Observers may and may not do inside a polling place

  • How to document concerns appropriately

  • What to expect on Election Day and during Early Voting


Coming from outside of Buncombe County for the Saturday, August 15th Poll Observer training, NCEIT registration is $15.00 which includes lunch and materials. In Person Training Schedule thus far:


  • Saturday, September 12th (10AM to 2:30PM): Poll Observer Training will be conducted in Franklin County. Trinity United Methodist Church, 4272 US Highway 401 N., Louisburg, NC 27549. Food will be provided by Chick-Fil-A out of Henderson, NC.  Chicken Sandwich, bag of chips, a cookie, napkin, a pack of mayo and ketchup.  I'll provide tea and water.  Cost is $15 to include materials.  POC Teri Sparrow 919.417.6264. .   • Henderson County: Sept 26th and Oct 10th: Seating limited to 40 each session. The training will be offered on Saturday, Sept 26th from 9AM to 12PM and on Saturday, October 10th from 1PM to 4PM at Henderson County GOP Headquarters, 170 4 Seasons Blvd., Hendersonville, NC 28792. Materials & snacks provided by Henderson GOP. (Registration starts 30 minutes before the session.) We need to know how many are attending so we have enough handouts. Sign up at the link below.
